Did You Know That...

77.3% of consumers used a coupon in the year 2000.

Over 50% of consumers used a coupon in a store or restaurant that was not a grocery store.

The average face value of a coupon was 71 cents in the year 2000.

(for more coupon statistics, see website http://couponing.about.com/cs/aboutcouponing/a/couponusage2000.htm)

That means of the customers that spend money in your store or restaurant, 50-75% of them actively use coupons in their shopping practices.

The majority of consumers will bring a coupon into a store, and purchase more then just the item the coupon is valid for. Grocery stores offer a few door-busting specials, every week, to bring customers in the door. Once there, most shoppers purchase the rest of their groceries in the same trip. Many other stores offer coupons such as $ 5 off $ 25 or more.

Most coupon-bearing patrons of a restaurant will come with a friend or two that does not have a coupon. One discount can bring a few customers in the door.

Many stores and restaurants offer coupons that are valid at certain times of the day or week, to bring customers in during their 'dead hours.'

MOST STORES AND RESTAURANTS THAT GIVES OUT COUPONS MAKE MORE PROFIT THAN IF THEY DID NOT GIVE OUT THE COUPONS.

STORES AND RESTAURANTS THAT DON'T GIVE OUT COUPONS ARE MISSING OUT ON SOME EXTRA BUSINESS.

Version 10.0 of Cash Register Express and Restaurant Pro Express includes a NEW built-in coupon tracking system with many advanced features.

** Coupons can be set to give a flat dollar amount discount, or a percentage off participating items (the dollar amount for percent off items is automatically calculated)

** Coupons can have an expiration date. Expired coupons will not be accepted without administrator permission.

** You can set valid days and times for a coupon. For example, you can easily set that a coupon is only valid for $ 5 off dinner, Monday - Thursday 3:30 PM - 12 PM.

** You can specify which items, departments or categories a coupon is valid for. So, if a clothing store is good for 10% off any hat purchase, Cash Register Express will prevent the coupon being used for any items not in the 'Hats' department.

** Coupons can be configured so you only accept one coupon per invoice. Many stores and restaurants only want to allow one coupon to be used for any given sale. This feature will not allow a cashier to scan\enter more than one coupon.

** The entire coupon interface is explained in our new F1 help section.
