Cash Register Express and Restaurant Pro Express Version 9.12 were released on April 2, 2003!
Version 9.0 added many new features and enhancements, including online credit card authorizations, enhanced touch screen features for restaurant, new and modified reports and support for USB pole displays.
Version 9.10 added additional features (detailed below) including major enhancements to the Retail Touch Screen. Version 9.12 added increased security and permissions for those using employee swipe cards.
The biggest new feature -- Touch Screen Lookup:
The touch screen lookup is a
one touch fast way to ring up items that
can't be bar coded. It can be used with a mouse but is geared for a
touch screen. Your cashier no longer has to memorize item numbers for
items that do not have a bar code.
Who can use it?
Convenience stores can use the
lookup for their 'on the run' food, such as hot
dogs, bagels and hot chocolates.
A cellular store can use it to ring up a service plan.
Grocery stores and supermarkets
can use it to quickly ring up fruits and
vegetables.
Any store can use it for any item that does not contain a bar code.
Don't own a touch screen? You can
add one to your system. We
offer USB touch screens which take less then 5 minutes to install on each
register.

***Detailed Features and Enhancements Version 9.10***

1, ** NEW ** Added TOUCH SCREEN LOOKUP to the Retail Main Invoice Screen.
Adding a touch screen can give you a powerful new way to add items
to your invoice. This is VERY USEFUL for items that don't have bar
codes, and can even be used for those that do. When you touch the
'TS Lookup' button, the right half of the screen will be replaced
with the touch screen lookup. All of your items can be listed by
department. You can touch the department on the left, and all of the
items in that department show up on the right. You can change the
color and caption of every item and department button by using the
'Touch Screen Configuration' option in the Options screen (option 4K.)
Examples of usage: gasoline in gas\convenient, open produce in grocery,
non bar coded corkscrews on counter in liquor store, seasonal items
you will only carry once, key chains and magnets in gift\book store, etc.
2. ** NEW ** Added 'Administrative Card Access' check box to the 'Employee
Maintenance' screen. Checking this option for an employee gives them
full administrative permission via card swipes, allowing them to swipe
for any secure function. This is useful if a store or restaurant has
more then one owner or trusted administrator, they can now both log in
under their own ID and not have to share the same login card.
3. ** NEW ** Added 'Prompt Quantity' option to the 'Inventory Maintenance'
screen (Optional tab.) If this is enabled, it will prompt you for the
quantity every time you sell an item. This is useful for items where
you almost always change the quantity and will save a keystroke.
4. ** NEW ** Added 'Prompt Price' option to the 'Inventory Maintenance'
screen (Optional tab.) If this is enabled, it will prompt you for the
price every time you sell an item. This is useful for items where you
almost always change the price (Example: gasoline, if somebody reports
how many dollars and cents they pumped) and will save a keystroke.
Another example is users who want Open Items in different categories,
where they don't track they stock (example: open produce, open toy)
5. If you add a customer through the Restaurant Pro Express invoice screen,
the customer will automatically be selected for the invoice as soon
as you hit 'Save' in the 'Customer Maintenance' screen.
6. Modified the 'Invoice Item Deletion' permissions as follows:
-- With table prompting on, it will only effect items that were already
put on hold (this is how it always was)
-- With table prompting off, the permission effects items that haven't
yet been put on hold (which means a drive-thru can delete items when
they first enter the order, but when they recall the order to take
payment, the deletion is subject to the permission.)
7. ** NEW ** Added 'Hold and Print' permission, which controls whether or not
cashiers can use the 'Hold and Print' cashier function from the options
screen (retail side only.)
8. ** NEW ** Added 'Disable this Employee' option to the Employee Maintenance
screen. If an employee leaves your business, you can mark them as Disabled --
which means their user name and password, or their swipe card, can not be used
to log in to the software.
9. ** NEW ** Added 'Allow this Station to End Transactions' option to the
'Station Specifics' tab of the 'Setup Screen'. This can be set to Yes
(station can always end with any payment type), No (this station can
never end) or Credit Card Only, which means the transaction can only
be ended if it's paid by credit card.
10. ** NEW ** Added 'Default Order Type' option to the 'Restaurant Features'
tab of the 'Setup Screen'. This allows you to specify, by station, the
default of whether the order is to stay, to go or delivery (for stations
that are always the same order type.) You can also set it to 'Prompt' at
the end of every transaction, in situations like quick service where
it changes for every order. In a drive-thru quick service, the drive-thru
station can be set to 'To Go', and the counter stations to 'Prompt' as
some orders are to stay, others to go.
11. 'To Go' and 'Delivery' now print on top of the receipt and kitchen printout
(if the order is to go or delivery.) They will print in red in the kitchen
to make it more noticeable, if you are using an Epson printer that has
the ability to print in red.
12. Modified the Accounts Receivable Statement to work better when re-printing
old statements.
13. ** NEW ** Added support for the NCR 7875 Scanner\Scale.
14. The 'Invoice Totals Report' now displays the station on the report (if one
was selected.)
15. The 'Detailed Department Sales' report now displays the stations on the
report (if one was selected.)
16. For restaurants, the top of a closed check will show "Table # 10 closed
to cash" (with the appropriate table and payment method of course) instead
of
just "Cash Purchase"
17. Moved the retail 'Payment Options' button to a menu item in the 'Tools'
menu.
18. ** NEW ** Added 'Prompt Another Table' feature to the 'Restaurant Features'
tab of the 'Setup Screen'. This feature allows the server to access another
order without re-logging in. A box will appear asking them if they would
like to access another order\table. If they do not say yes within 3 seconds,
it will automatically select no (in case the server walks away and forgets
to choose.)
19. ** NEW ** The cashiers name (instead of the ID) will now appear on the
receipts (if you have one entered for the employee in Employee Maintenance.)
20. Added support for the 'Report' and 'Settle' features for PC Charge.
